Panel on Financial-Assistance Organizations in Jewish Pittsburgh

Editor’s Note: This is the latest panel in an ongoing series of conversations moderated by Raimy Rubin. You can see the first panel conversation on education and engagement of Jewish teens in Pittsburgh here.

I am truly humbled to have the opportunity to speak to three people representing three organizations that are performing life-saving and life-changing work here in Pittsburgh. Matthew Bolton of SOS Pittsburgh; Aviva Lubowsky of the Hebrew Free Loan Association; and Ronna Harris Askin of the Jewish Assistance Fund. Each organization serves a distinct clientele and each caters to a different area of need.

As I have been learning more and more about these organizations, here are some quick-hit headlines about them:

SOS Pittsburgh helps those who have exhausted all other options to get back on their feet with one-time financial assistance.

The Hebrew Free Loan Association offers interest-free loans to people to help them cover an expense they couldn’t otherwise afford.

The Jewish Assistance Fund offers a lifeline to people who are truly in dire straits and have nowhere else to turn.

This panel will be conducted from February 23-25, using ReplyAll, which will automatically update when one of us replies. Please check back for updates, or subscribe below to receive the final conversation right to your inbox.
